HOW TO PREPARE FOR YOUR SINGING LESSON

The best way to prepare for your first singing lesson is to think about your goals so you can clearly communicate them during your first lesson discussion. Take responsibility for your own singing voice and use the time you have with the coach to your advantage. Ask questions, be assertive!

DO: Warm up your voice.

However you are used to warming up your voice (vocal exercises, singing a song, etc.), do so before you arrive at your first voice lesson. You will be asked to sing a small sample of any song you choose so we can determine your current level and get an idea of your vocal challenges.

DO: Dress comfortably.

DO NOT: Sing TOO much and fatigue your voice before arriving at your lesson.

If you arrive at your first lesson vocally fatigued or hoarse, we will not be able to provide a proper evaluation. So try your best not to overdo it!
